How to get started

Follow these 4 simple steps to get up and running.

1

Add a recurring price in Stripe

In your Stripe Dashboard, create a product with a recurring price and set its billing interval (daily, weekly, monthly or yearly) and amount. It shows up in the app's Recurring products right away.

2

Subscribe a customer

Open your products, switch to Recurring and pick the plan. Choose an existing customer or enter a name and email, then take a physical card by tap, insert or manual entry. The first period is charged now and Stripe bills each renewal automatically.

3

Manage active subscriptions

Open Subscriptions from the Stripe menu to see each subscription's plan, status and current billing period. If a renewal fails, send the customer a link to update their card.

4

Handle cancellations

End a subscription in the app to stop billing right away. To cancel at the end of the billing period, pause a subscription or change its plan, use your Stripe Dashboard.

Common questions

How do I manage Stripe subscriptions from my phone?
Open Subscriptions from the Stripe menu to see every subscription with its plan, status and current billing period. You can end a subscription from the app, and Stripe stops billing that customer right away.
How does proration work when I change a subscription?
Plan changes are made in your Stripe Dashboard, not in the app. When you upgrade or downgrade a subscription mid-cycle there, Stripe automatically calculates the prorated amount. The customer is credited for unused time on their old plan and charged for the remaining time on the new plan.
What happens when a subscription payment fails?
Stripe automatically retries failed payments according to your retry settings. You can configure the number of retry attempts and the interval between them in your Stripe Dashboard under Billing settings.
Can I offer free trials?
Yes. Set a trial period on the recurring price in your Stripe Dashboard. Subscriptions started in the app use that trial, and the customer isn't charged until it ends.
How do I pause a subscription instead of canceling?
You can pause subscriptions from your Stripe Dashboard. Paused subscriptions stop billing but retain all customer and plan information, making it easy to resume when the customer is ready.
Can customers start a subscription from a link?
Yes. Create a payment link with a recurring product in the Stripe Dashboard and share it. The customer pays online and Stripe starts the subscription automatically.
