Tap to Pay on iPhone requires an NFC-enabled iPhone XS or greater (excluding iPhone SE 3rd generation). Earlier iPhones and iPads are not compatible at this time.

iOS 15.5 or greater

Your device must be up to date with the latest versions of iOS. You can check for available updates in the Settings app.

Payment 10.0 or greater

Only the latest version of the Payment app, version 10.0 or greater (released in mid-June), has Tap to Pay on iPhone enabled.

What are the requirements to using Tap to Pay on iPhone?

For Apple, you will need an iPhone XS or later (excluding iPhone SE 3rd generation) and running iOS 15.5 or greater. Additionally, you will need a valid iCloud account to accept the terms of service for using Tap to Pay on iPhone. As for the Payment app, you will need to be using Payment app version 10.0 or greater. iPad's are not supported at this time.

Is there a fee for using Tap to Pay on iPhone?

At this time, pricing for Tap to Pay on iPhone, when used with the Stripe payment gateway, is confidential until you have opted into the program.

Which credit cards are supported with Tap to Pay on iPhone?

Tap to Pay on iPhone supports all major contactless credit cards including Visa, American Express, Mastercard and Discover.

Is there a transaction limit for contactless cards?

In certain situations, contactless payments over $100 USD for Visa & Mastercard and over $250 USD for American Express may require PIN entry. At this time, PIN entry is not supported, and you may see declines due to this limitation. Historically, Stripe Terminal has seen a less than 0.03% decline rate over the past year.

I accepted the Tap to Pay on iPhone Platform Terms and Conditions with an Apple ID I don’t want to use for my business. How do I change the Apple ID?

You can update the Apple ID used for your connection in Apple Business Register. First, follow the link in your Tap to Pay on iPhone welcome email to sign in to Apple Business Register. Confirm your business information to see your Tap to Pay on iPhone connection and your Merchant ID.

From the main Apple Business Register page, go to Your Organization > Members to view Team Members, and select Add Contact to add the preferred Apple ID for your business. Apple Business Register will send an email to this Apple ID with a confirmation link. Follow this link to sign in to Apple Business Register.

Go to the main Apple Business Register page and select Your Organization > Members. From the Team Members list, select the Apple ID you’d like to remove to view the team member profile. From the profile, select “Delete this team member” to remove the selected Apple ID from your organization.
