Create a subscription product
Go to the Products tab and create a new product with a recurring price. Set your billing interval (weekly, monthly, or yearly) and the amount to charge each period.

Subscribe a customer
Select your subscription product and choose an existing customer or create a new one. The customer will be charged immediately for the first period and automatically on each renewal date.

Manage active subscriptions
View all active subscriptions in the Subscriptions tab. You can see payment history, upcoming charges, and update the subscription amount or billing cycle as needed.

Handle cancellations
Cancel subscriptions immediately or at the end of the current billing period. Customers retain access until their paid period ends when you choose end-of-period cancellation.

How does proration work when I change a subscription?
When you upgrade or downgrade a subscription mid-cycle, Stripe automatically calculates the prorated amount. The customer is credited for unused time on their old plan and charged for the remaining time on the new plan.
What happens when a subscription payment fails?
Stripe automatically retries failed payments according to your retry settings. You can configure the number of retry attempts and the interval between them in your Stripe Dashboard under Billing settings.
Can I offer free trials?
Yes! When creating a subscription, you can set a trial period. The customer won't be charged until the trial ends. You can set trials from 1 day to several months.
How do I pause a subscription instead of canceling?
You can pause subscriptions from your Stripe Dashboard. Paused subscriptions stop billing but retain all customer and plan information, making it easy to resume when the customer is ready.
